The playing surface in the 14-year-old soccer facility will be replaced for the first time since its opening in 2005.

The field will be re-sodded and ready for competition just in time for head coach Naomi Kolarova‘s second season at the helm of the Governors.

Due to the work being done the Govs August 12th exhibition match against Georgia State will be played at Creekwood High School in Charlotte, Tennessee.

“We’re excited to start preseason with our 2019 squad and get a few games under our belt,” said coach Kolarova, “Unfortunately the work [at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field] will prevent us from playing on our own field but Creekwood High School has a great playing surface and they have been very accommodating. Our field should be good to go by our home opener, and we are looking forward to playing on the new surface for our home opener later this month.”

The old playing surface at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field has hosted all of Austin Peay’s home soccer matches since 2005. The field also played host to the Tennessee Titans 2006 training camp.

The Govs will start the 2019 season with a two-game road trip at Chattanooga (August 23rd) and then at Middle Tennessee (August 25th) before returning for a 7:00pm home opener against Mercer on August 30th. The Govs will play six more games at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field, including a nonconference match against Evansville (September 15th) before hosting five Ohio Valley Conference matches.
