Vandy Invitational next for APSU Track and Field

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team combines its efforts for the Vanderbilt Invitational, Friday and Saturday, at the Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex.

Last week, the Lady Govs split up the sprinters and distance runners, sending the sprinters to the Sea Ray Relays and the latter to the Bellarmine Invitational. Both groups had successful events, recording a number of personal bests and even setting an OVC-best time in the 400-meters.

Sea Ray Relays give Lady Govs track chance to improve

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s track and field team returns to action at Tennessee’s 45th Annual Sea Ray Relays, beginning Friday, in Knoxville TN.

The Lady Govs will take a small contingent to Knoxville looking to improve times on the track, while also solidifying their work on the triple jump. While Austin Peay showed improvement in its last meet, the Austin Peay Invitational, there remains plenty to be shored up as the outdoor season’s halfway point nears.

Mills named CIAF APSU Athlete of the Week

 

Amy MillsAustin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior Amy Mills, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In five games last week the Chelsea, OK native hit .389 (7-18) with four RBIs, two doubles, a .500 slugging percentage and a .421 on-base percentage. Defensively Mills threw out three would-be stealers.

The junior catcher was clutch in the Lady Govs first Ohio Valley Conference win against UT Martin as she drove in the tying run in the top of the seventh with a single to center. Mills, capped her week with a 3-for-3 performance leading the Lady Govs to a 5-4 victory over Eastern Michigan.  «Read the rest of this article»

Final home track meet set for Saturday

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field tream hosts its final home meet – the Austin Peay Invitational – Saturday at Governors Stadium.

The field events begin at 9:00am, while the track events take off at 11:00am. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsTuscaloosa, AL – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team saw a well-rounded effort at the Alabama Relays, this weekend, hosted by the University of Alabama.

While a number of athletes recorded personal bests during the meet, head coach Doug Molnar was pleased with his team’s overall performance.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team continues the outdoor season, Saturday, at the Alabama Relays, hosted by the University of Alabama.

Along with host Alabama, the Relays consists of Southeastern Conference members Auburn, Mississippi, Mississippi State, as well as Cincinnati, Indiana, Birmingham-Southern, Samford, Southern Miss and Alabama-Birmingham.

Pinkston sparks Lady Govs track and field at APSU Spring Fling

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team came away from the Austin Peay Spring Fling outdoor meet with some answers, Saturday, at Governors Stadium.

The Lady Govs, who competed against Bethel, Belmont and Vanderbilt, set several personal bests during the meet. It also allowed head coach Doug Molnar an opportunity to fill some gaps on his team and find answers to some lingering questions as the outdoor season starts to get in full swing.
