Free ASL Chat offered by Blanchfield Army Community Hospital for patients and staff

 

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH)Fort Campbell, KY – During a free group that meets twice a month, beneficiaries and staff at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital can learn and practice American Sign Language.

“We initially started it with the staff to improve communication with our deaf and hard-of-hearing patients and staff members we have here at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, but we would love the opportunity for our patients to join us as well,” said Nicole Fitzwater, an employee at BACH who volunteers her time to facilitate the group.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art and Design, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to welcome sound artist and two-time TED Fellow Christine Sun Kim to campus for a visiting artist lecture.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 2nd, in room 401 of the Trahern Building.

Nashville Sounds to begin Five-Game Homestand Friday

 

Featuring 2 Fireworks Extravaganzas, Elvis Night, A Back-To-School Giveaway, Deaf & Hard of Hearing Community Night and the Final Autograph Day of the Season

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds return to Greer Stadium on Friday, August 16th, for their 10th homestand of the season. The Sounds will host the Round Rock Express (Texas Rangers affiliate) for a five-game series.

The homestand will be highlighted by two fireworks shows, Elvis Night, one back-to-school giveaway night, the final Autograph Day of the season, and Deaf & Hard of Hearing Community Night presented by Beltone.

APSU Extended Ed announces American Sign Language classes starting in September

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Center for Extended and Distance Education at Austin Peay State University will offer American Sign Language (ASL) this fall.

Under the instruction of a deaf instructor, the ASL classes offered at APSU will include the art of finger spelling, ASL grammar and vocabulary, as well as an exploration of deaf culture.
