Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University athletics welcomed back its student-athletes to campus, Sunday night, with a barbecue dinner in the Dunn Center.

During a short program, new APSU Athletics Director Ryan Ivey, whose first official day is Monday, introduced himself to nearly 300 student-athletes.  Ivey then introduced APSU President Alisa White, who spoke about the many positive things occurring in the campus community.

Austin Peay State University Athletics to honor Community Heroes

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – At Saturday’s football game against Jacksonville State, the Austin Peay State University athletic department will be recognizing the men’s tennis team, which won the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Championship for the first time since 1974, as well as 92 APSU student-athletes on the 2013 OFC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

In addition to the student-athletes we see on the field of competition every day, the Austin Peay athletics department also is recognizing three of our Community Heroes, honoring those that make Clarksville a great place to live.

Austin Peay State University infielder Reed Harper named finalist for 2013 Senior Class Award

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Infielder Reed Harper has been named one of 30 baseball finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award®.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Govs Give Back a success for APSU Student-Athletes

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s student-athletes were privileged to be part of “Govs Give Back” for the third-straight year, this time helping close to 300 families with the Clarksville community with holiday groceries.

The project, spearheaded by the Austin Peay Fellowship of Christian Athletes, included volunteers from many Governors and Lady Govs sports teams through the Student Athlete Advisory Council.

“Govs Give Back” impacts more than 200 Clarksville families

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay community flexed its muscles, Sunday, when more than 80 volunteers gathered to supply holiday groceries to the Lincoln Homes Community – a section of low-income housing adjacent to Austin Peay’s main campus – as part of the Govs Give Back.
