Nashville Sounds out hit Reno Aces for 7-4 win

 

All Nine Sounds Hitters Record a Hit, Cody Martin Notches Quality Start

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds hit parade continued on Tuesday night as they out-slugged Reno 7-4 at Aces Ballpark.

The first inning began how many opening frame have started this season for Nashville, the red-hot Joey Wendle smacked his 37th double of the season and came around to score on a Jason Pridie single. The outfielder became the first Sound to hit the 80 RBI plateau on the play.

Reno immediately answered, getting a run on a sacrifice fly by Jamie Romak. The Aces would load the bases, but Sounds’ starter Cody Martin struck Todd Glaesmann out swinging to leave them loaded. Nashville is now outscoring their opponents 80-50 in the opening frame this season.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The first-place Nashville Sounds (37-30) found some late game heroics for the third straight night, downing the Reno Aces 3-2 at Greer Stadium Wednesday night. The close victory makes the Sounds 15-10 in one-run games during the 2014 season.

It was Hector Gomez’s turn to come through in the clutch with an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth that scored Matt Pagnozzi, whose athletic slide beat the tag from Aces catcher and former Sound Blake Lalli. Gomez now has six RBIs in his last seven games and has hit safely in 14 of his last 19 games.

Nashville Sounds lose 3-2 to Iowa Cubs in extra innings

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds had one out to go before picking up their eighth shutout victory of the season, but the Iowa Cubs battled back Sunday night to force extras before handing Nashville the 3-2 loss at Greer Stadium.

Iowa’s first baseman Greg Rohan hit the game-winning home run off the guitar scoreboard in the 10th inning, but it was former Sound Edwin Maysonet who kept the Cubs in the game with his at-bat in the 9th inning, hitting the game-tying two-run single up the middle facing two outs in the ninth inning.

Nashville Sounds beats Iowa Cubs 7-2 at Greer Stadium Saturday night

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds treated South Nashville Little League and 8,004 fans to a 7-2 win over the visiting Iowa Cubs Saturday night at Greer Stadium.

Prior to the game, the recent Little League World Series participants joined the Sounds on the field during the pregame festivities. The Sounds honored the team by wearing their Southeast Little League caps during the game.

Nashville Sounds beat Oklahoma City Redhawks 6-1

 

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – Eugenio Velez extended his hitting streak to 17 games and drove in a pair of runs to help lead the Nashville Sounds to a 6-1 victory over the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Wednesday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Right-hander Alfredo Figaro (1-0) earned his first Triple-A win of the year for Nashville by allowing one run in his five innings of work, scattering four hits and inducing three double plays during his 73-pitch effort.

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM – The Nashville Sounds never recovered from a six-run second inning Thursday night at Isotopes Park, losing 9-5 to the Albuquerque Isotopes.

After a perfect first inning, Sounds starter Zach Kroenke (5-15) ran into trouble in the second. The lefty, making the spot start for Chris Narveson, loaded the bases for Albuquerque’s infielder Justin Sellers, who hit a triple past a diving Kentrail Davis in center field to put the ‘Topes up three.

Nashville Sounds drop game to Round Rock Express 8-6 in extra innings

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN- The Round Rock Express rallied from a mid-game four-run deficit to eventually hang an 8-6, 10-inning defeat on the Nashville Sounds on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium.

Nashville (51-78), which led 5-1 entering the sixth inning, fell to 1-7 in extra-inning play this season (0-4 at home).

In the decisive tenth frame, Round Rock loaded the bases with no outs on a walk sandwiched by a pair of singles against Travis Webb. Engel Beltre delivered a go-ahead RBI single to center before Alex Buchholz chased Webb with an RBI groundout that gave the Express an 8-6 lead.

Nashville Sounds defeat Round Rock Express 4-3

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds treated 9,501 fans to a 4-3 win over the Round Rock Express Saturday night at Greer Stadium, scoring all of their runs in the fifth inning and surviving a late Express rally.

After four scoreless innings, the Sounds attacked Express starter Scott Richmond (4-6) for four runs in the fifth inning.

Hunter Morris led off the frame with a double to the right-field corner and scored on Hainley Statia double in the following at-bat. Blake Lalli singled to move Statia to third and set the table for Josh Prince, who reached on an RBI-fielder’s choice.

Nashville Sounds lose Friday night to Round Rock Express 7-4

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN –  The Nashville Sounds dropped the opener of a five-game series against the Round Rock Express on Friday evening , falling 7-4 in front of 8,714 fans at Greer Stadium.

Nashville (50-77) out-hit the Express, 10-8, in the contest and Sounds pitchers combined to strike out a season-high 15 batters in the losing effort.

Nashville Sounds get 14 hits in 7-3 victory over Reno Aces

 

Nashville’s Johnny Hellweg Picks Up 11th Win And 2 RBIs

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds converted 14 hits into seven runs Thursday night at Aces Ballprk to defeat the Reno Aces 7-3 in the series finale.

The win gives Nashville the series split and their 15th Thursday night win of the season (15-3).

The Sounds finish the road trip with a 4-4 record. Nashville strung together three runs in the second inning for the early 3-0 lead.
