Tennessee Vols Football defeats Vanderbilt 28-10 at Neyland Stadium

 

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Freshman running back Eric Gray moved like lightning, and the hard-hitting Tennessee Football defense delivered the thunder as the Volunteers tormed past Vanderbilt, 28-10, on a rain-soaked Senior Night at Neyland Stadium.
 
With the victory, UT finished the regular season at 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the SEC. The Vols are bowl eligible for the first time since 2016 and will learn their destination and opponent when bids are announced on December 8th. The Commodores, meanwhile, saw their three-game winning streak in the series end and their record fall to 3-9 overall and 1-7 in league play.

Tennessee Football announces 2019 Schedule

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsBirmingham, AL – Eight games at Neyland Stadium, including the first-ever meeting with BYU and a matchup with Mississippi State for the first time since 2012, highlight Tennessee Football’s 2019 schedule.
 
The SEC released complete schedules for all 14 conference schools on Tuesday.
 
Tennessee opens the season on August 31st against Georgia State before hosting BYU on September 7th and Chattanooga on September 14th.
 
The Vols travel to Gainesville to face the Gators for their SEC opener on September 21st before the first of two open dates on September 28th.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsTuscaloosa, AL – Riding a six-game winning streak, No. 15 Tennessee is set for another tough road game Saturday against Alabama in Coleman Coliseum. The game will tip at 5:00pm CT and will be televised live on SEC Network and streamed online via WatchESPN.

The Vols (18-5, 8-3 SEC) are coming off their first win in Rupp Arena since 2006, beating 24th-ranked Kentucky, 61-59, on Tuesday night. Lamonté Turner was the player of the game, draining the decisive go-ahead three with 26 seconds left in the game. He would finish with a game-high 16 points on four treys. The SEC Sixth Man of the Year candidate has scored in double figures in four straight games and five of the last six, averaging 16.2 ppg during the stretch.

Nashville Sounds Outfielder led the PCL in Hits, RBI, Doubles and Total Bases

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds outfielder Jaycob Brugman has been named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for his performance from June 6th-12th, the league announced today.

The 24-year-old hit .467 (14-for-30) with 12 RBI, 9 runs scored, 7 doubles and 2 home runs to help the Sounds go 5-2 over the last week.

Brugman had four multi-hit games, four multi-RBI games and delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the ninth inning of yesterday’s 7-4 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN  Senior Marco Iten will represent Austin Peay State University men’s golf team at the NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament Auburn Regional, May 15th-17th, at the Auburn University Club.

The 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Individual Medalist, Iten is the fourth Gov to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament as an individual and the third since 2008, joining Grant Leaver (2008) and Anthony Bradley (2012).

Former APSU Football Coach Boots Donnelly inducted into National Football Foundation Hall of Fame

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsAtlanta, GA – James “Boots” Donnelly, the only coach to lead Austin Peay State University football to an Ohio Valley Conference championship was inducted into the 2013 National Football Foundation (NFF) Division College Hall of Fame, Wednesday night.

The enshrinement ceremony was held at Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. It was the first time the event was held in Atlanta, the new home of the Hall of Fame.

APSU to host Riverview Inn Classic this weekend

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team continues its 12-game homestand when it hosts the Riverview Inn Classic, Friday-Sunday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The six-game, round-robin tournament will feature APSU vs, Creighton, Milwaukee and University of Arkansas-Little Rock(UALR) with two games scheduled each day. It will be the first time Austin Peay has met Creighton and UALR on the baseball diamond, while Milwaukee returns for the 19th meeting in the series after a one-year hiatus.
