Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission holds First 2020 Meeting

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission held its first meeting of 2020 which included updates on chronic wasting disease (CWD), a preview of next year’s waterfowl and migratory hunting seasons, and Asian carp. The two-day meeting was held in the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Ray Bell Building.

Chuck Yoest, TWRA’s CWD coordinator, reported that the number of CWD-positive and high-risk counties in southwest Tennessee has increased to seven and four, respectively.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirms Silver Carp in Chickamauga Lake

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – On January 10th, 2020, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) received a report that a silver carp was captured on Chickamauga Lake in October.

The angler, Dustin Hinkle, said the invasive fish “jumped into the boat as I deployed my trolling motor.” Hinkle encountered the fish near the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, and stated he “saw 15-20 more fish near the surface” exhibiting a feeding behavior.

TWRA says latest Florida Bass study of Chickamauga Lake indicates success, but with surprising results

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – Results of three genetic studies conducted on Florida largemouth bass released into Chickamauga Lake have all revealed some positive news for bass anglers, but with results that might be surprising, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to hold Fifth Annual Operation Dry Water Weekend June 28th-30th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will be participating in Operation Dry Water, June 28th-30th. Operation Dry Water is a national weekend of Boating Under the Influence (BUI) education and enforcement directed toward reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities.

Operation Dry Water is held on a weekend prior to the July 4th holiday to give BUI enforcement high visibility during the peak boating season.
