University of Tennessee announces Phillip Fulmer as Director of Athletics

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Chancellor Beverly Davenport announced the appointment of Phillip Fulmer as director of athletics on Friday, December 1st, 2017.

Phillip Fulmer will begin serving as athletic director effective immediately,” Davenport said. “I have taken these steps in the best interest of the university.”

“I am confident that Phillip understands the need to support our student-athletes and our commitment to excellence in all athletic programs. I appreciate his willingness to serve during this critical time.”

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee renews one of its most exciting SEC East rivalries this week as the Vols host No. 7/8 Georgia on Saturday in Neyland Stadium. The game will feature a 2:30pm CT kickoff on CBS.

Tennessee (3-1, 0-1 SEC) is coming off a 17-13 win over UMass on September 23rd. Junior running back John Kelly ran for 101 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries. Sophomore receiver Brandon Johnson set new career highs with seven receptions for 123 yards. The UT defense logged seven sacks in the win, marking the Vols’ most sacks since recording seven sacks against Vanderbilt in 2008.

APSU Governors Football to sacrifice timeouts in order to wear Camo Jersey in honor Fort Campbell

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team will play Tennessee State for homecoming, 4:00pm, Saturday with just two timeouts.

The camouflaged jerseys Austin Peay chose to wear Saturday with the respective Fort Campbell unit nicknames across the upper back are in violation of NCAA Rule 1, Article 5 regarding proper numerals and lettering. For every quarter Austin Peay wears those jerseys, the Govs will be assessed a timeout.

Former APSU Football players John Ogles, Harold “Red” Roberts on College Football Hall of Fame ballot

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsIrving, TX – John Ogles and Harold “Red” Roberts, the only two Austin Peay State University football players to have their respective jerseys retired, are on the 2015 Divisional Player ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame.

That has been announced by The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame. In total, 87 players and 25 coaches are on the ballot from the divisional ranks while 75 players and six coaches are on the Football Bowl Subdivision ballot.
