City of Clarksville staff takes part in United Way Field Day event

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville employees competed Tuesday in the 2nd Annual United Way Field Day event to kick-off the annual workplace giving campaign.

Twelve six-member teams from across the City of Clarksville gathered at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center compete in nine “minute-to-win-it” games, including Ping Pong Shake, Elephant March and Balloon Pop. Team names were equally creative, including Blue Light Special, Killa Watts, Perfectly Balanced and Codes Crusaders.

City of Clarksville, United Way unveil “Real Change, Not Spare Change” program to reduce panhandling

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Area have introduced a program designed to reduce panhandling by encouraging citizens to give to agencies that attack the real problems of need and homelessness.

The “Real Change, Not Spare Change” program urges citizens to refrain from making direct donations to panhandlers. Instead, the campaign encourages residents to contribute to agencies that provide food for people in need and to agencies whose mission is to provide services to homeless individuals and families.
