Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Academy, along with head football coach Todd Hood, announce the signing of Jacob Rugen to a football scholarship to Millsaps College in Jackson Mississippi.

Rugen scored 37 touchdowns and 3692 total yards in his two year football career at the Academy.

Wise Extra Point Block in Overtime gives Clarksville Academy Cougars Win over Cheatham County

 

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – With Cheatham County’s first possession in overtime, senior running back Desmond Sweatt scored from 7 yards out to give the Cubs a six point lead. Willie Pressley lined up to attempt the extra point to extend the lead to seven, but the Academy’s Connor Wise broke free from the left side of the line, leaped, and blocked the kick to keep the lead at six

The block allowed Clarksville Academy the opportunity to score a touchdown on their possession in overtime and have a chance to win the game with an extra point of their own. After a 3rd down illegal procedure call on the Academy moved the ball back to the 14, Michael Conn found Connor Thomas on a slant route over the middle for a touchdown.

Clarksville Academy Football Wins Homecoming Game over McEwen 42-14

Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Academy Cougars won their homecoming game over McEwen 42-14 at Simpson field Friday night. Simpson field is commonly referred to as the swamp because of it’s close proximity to the Cumberland River.

Friday night it lived up to its name as the Cougars battled McEwen in a district matchup that was played in rain that never quit.

Clarksville Academy Cougars Football Wins Wild One 33-29 against East Robertson Indians

 Clarksville Academy CougarsClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Academy Cougars rebounded from their first loss of the season last week by knocking off a tough nosed East Robertson team 33-29 at Simpson field.

The Cougars fell behind early as the Indians took the opening kickoff and went 63 yards on 8 plays aided by two fourth down conversions. The second of which resulted in a 45 yard TD pass from East Robertson’s Matthew Tomlin to Brendon Moore. The extra point was missed and the Indians had a 6-0 lead.

Clarksville Academy beat Montgomery Central 47-7 Saturday afternoon

 

2012 Clarksville Academy vs  Montgomery Central Cunningham, TN – Clarksville Academy Cougars beat the Montgomery Central Indians 47-7 Saturday afternoon at Montgomery Central’s Phillip J. Horsey Field in the “Battle of the River” game.

“We worked very hard in the off season. We’ve very proud of our effort. Kids executed real well,” state Clarksville Academy head coach Todd Hood. “To lose so many kids from last year’s team. We lost 9 on offense, about 6 on defense and some out of state players. So to come back and play like this on our first game, I’m very proud of our effort.”
