SpiritFest offers Family Fun Activities before Clarksville’s Lighted Christmas Parade

Clarksville's SpiritfestClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 2nd, 2017, the 3rd Annual SpiritFest, a holiday event, will offer a bounty of free activities, including visits with Santa Claus, rides on the International Express Bus, four kids’ inflatables, live music on the new Downtown Commons stage, ice skating, art and gift markets, food trucks and a live nativity with animals. SpiritFest begins at 2:00pm and runs until 5:00pm.

It will start three hours before Clarksville’s 58th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade, which will pass by its location in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

SpiritFest, a free “Pre-Parade Celebration of Christmas,” will feature kids’ inflatables, Santa Claus, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, Christmas music performances by multiple groups, a live nativity including animals, food trucks and two art and gift markets.

Austin Peay State University to hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for new Jenkins Building October 6th

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Last February, the Austin Peay State University Office of University Advancement relocated to 318 College Street, marking the beginning of APSU’s expansion into downtown Clarksville.

At 2:00pm, on Friday, October 6th, 2017 the University will officially celebrate this milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the campus’ new Jenkins Building, home of University Advancement. The ceremony will take place at 416 College Street.

Austin Peay State University Beef Cattle Show Team wins Second National Championship

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Beef Cattle Show Team is barely older than the livestock it shows, but the program has quickly made a name for itself as a competitor on the local, state and national levels.

They only reinforced that reputation when Ruby, the team’s prize heifer, or young female cow, was named Reserve Division Champion Percentage Simmental at the 2017 Dixie National Livestock show, held this past February in Jackson, Mississippi.

First Meeting of Tennessee Legislative Task Force on Opioid Abuse Kicks Off

Tennessee State Representative - District 68Nashville, TN – This week in Nashville, the first meeting of the legislative task force on opioid and prescription drug abuse kicked off in Nashville, with stakeholders from across the state coming to the Legislative Plaza to speak out about Tennessee’s growing drug epidemic.

The task force was created this month by House Speaker Beth Harwell (R-Nashville) with the immediate goal of working on legislation and determining best strategies for tackling Tennessee’s opioid problems. Tennessee is consistently ranked at the top of the charts nationally with regards to prescription drug abuse.

Rossview High School Wrestling hosting Drive 4UR School fundraiser October 3rd

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – Rossview High School Wrestling and Jenkins and Wynne Ford are hosting the Drive 4UR School fundraiser on October 3rd on the Rossview campus from 9:30am to 1:15pm. Ford will make a donation to the Rossview athletic programs.

Volunteers are needed to test drive select vehicles and this will earn proceeds for the Rossview sports programs. Anyone interested in participating can contact Rob Gordon at .

Austin Peay State University Red Coat Society inducts three new members Saturday Night

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – On Saturday night, February 18th, the Red Coat Society inducted Don Jenkins, owner of Jenkins and Wynne Ford Lincoln Honda ; Gary Mathews, owner of Gary Mathews Automotive Group, and James Corlew, owner of James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac during halftime of the Austin Peay Governors Sears BracketBusters contest with Youngstown State.

The Red Coat Society serves as a Hall of Fame of service for the Governors Club, APSU’s Athletics booster club. This is the ninth year for the Red Coat Society.

Gary Mathews, James Corlew, and Don Jenkins were inducted into the Red Coat Society Saturday Night at halftime of the Austin Peay Governors vs. Youngstown State basketball game.
