Tennessee sees 2 cent increase in Gas Prices
Tampa, FL – More than 100 million Americans are taking to the roadways to travel for the holidays, but that hasn’t had a large impact on gas prices. At the start of the work week, only about a dozen states are seeing more expensive gas prices with increases of less than a dime.
“AAA forecasts that 104 million Americans will travel by car – the most on record – for a year-end holiday,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
Tampa, FL – AAA says for the 49 million Americans hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday, they will find gas prices mostly similar, if not cheaper, than last year’s holiday. Today’s national average is $2.59. That is just a few cents over the 2018 holiday weekend average of $2.57.
“During Thanksgiving week last year we saw the national gas price average decrease a nickel between Monday and Thursday, that could be the case again this year,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
Tampa, FL – On the week, gas prices are mostly cheaper across the country. A small number of states saw pump prices decrease more than a dime, though the majority saw fluctuation of a few pennies. Today’s national average of $2.59 is two cents cheaper than last week.
“An increase in gasoline stocks amid robust demand helped to push gas prices cheaper on the week,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
Tampa, FL – AAA reports that the national gas price average dropped by four cents on the week to $2.60, despite a jump in gasoline demand and a draw in gasoline stocks.
That is the largest one-week decrease since gas prices started to increase more than six weeks ago. Today’s average is a nickel cheaper than last month and 21-cents cheaper than last year at this time.
Tampa, FL – AAA says that last week was the first time since early June that the national gas price average jumped more than a nickel in under a few days. On the week, it’s a dime more expensive at $2.66 with half of states seeing prices increase by 10 cents or more.
However, even with the significant increase, the national average is still cheaper compared to last month (-6 cents) and last year (-19 cents).
Clarksville, TN – The motorcycle community is reeling this weekend after the news of a horrific accident that killed seven bikers in Randolph, New Hampshire. The victims were members of the Jarheads Motorcycle Club which is comprised of former and active duty U.S. Marines.
Witnesses and First Responders said it was one of the most devastating accident scenes they had ever seen. I’m not going to recount the details of the accident, as you can read all about it here.
When I first read the story, my heart just sank. My emotions went from anger to sadness in a matter of minutes. I think we all felt the same way, as we once again were reminded of the dangers of this lifestyle that we love so much.
Tampa, FL – AAA says that today’s national average is $2.74, which is seven-cents cheaper than last week, 13-cents less than a month ago and 18 cents cheaper than a year ago. Nearly every state’s gas price average is cheaper than a week ago, a month ago and a year ago.
“Refinery utilization in the United States is at its highest level since early January, resulting in overall gasoline stocks at healthy levels to meet robust summer demand. Prices are dropping due to cheaper crude oil and at the same time U.S. supply is keeping pace with demand,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
Tampa, FL – With only a penny increase on the week, the national gas price average saw the smallest one-week jump since mid-February. For the last eight weeks, weekly jumps ranged anywhere between a nickel and a nearly a quarter.
“On the week, 30 states saw pump price increases or decreases of three cents or less which helped keep the national average relatively steady, but motorists shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.
Tampa, FL – Many motorists filling up across the country are noticing gas prices that are increasing slightly. While nearly 25 states’ averages increased on the week, the national average is only a penny more than a week ago at $2.26.
The fluctuating national and state gas price averages come alongside an increase in gasoline demand and reflect the higher crude oil prices as of late, but it’s likely not to be a long-term trend.
