Nashville Sounds fall to Omaha Storm Chasers, 9-2

 

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds’ offense was unable to get on track in 9-2 loss to Omaha Storm Chasers Friday night at Werner Park. The Sounds had lost 1-0 in the opener of the series and gone 21 consecutive scoreless innings when they managed runs late in Friday’s game.

Omaha took a 1-0 lead in the first against Austin Bibens-Dirkx and doubled the lead with a Nick Dini homer in the bottom of the fifth.

Omaha Storm Chasers blank Nashville Sounds, 1-0

 

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds did not score a run against the Omaha Storm Chasers Thursday night falling 1-0 at Werner Park.

The only run of the night came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Taylor Guerrieri, who entered in the third after starter Pedro Payano retired all six batters he faced in a shortened outing, struck out his first two batters.

Then Kelvin Gutierrez reached on an infield single, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Ryan O’Hearn. All seven of Omaha’s hits in the game were singles, and two were infield hits.

Nashville Sounds finish road trip with 4-3 win over Omaha Storm Chasers

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds wrapped up their six-game road trip with a 4-3 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers Monday afternoon. Sounds starter Daniel Gossett earned his first win of the season with a quality start while three Sounds batters recorded multi-hit games.

The Sounds drew first blood by plating a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Josh Phegley and Nick Martini recorded back-to-back run-scoring doubles to spot Gossett a 2-0 lead. The advantage was short-lived as the Storm Chasers erased the two-run deficit with a pair of runs of their own in the second inning.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds were edged by the Omaha Storm Chasers 4-1 in Sunday’s matinee. The victory clinched the three-game series for Omaha.

Nashville’s Frankie Montas and Omaha’s Clay Bucholz went toe-to-toe on the mound as they both cruised through the first five innings without allowing a run. Omaha finally broke the seal on the scoreless ball game in the sixth inning. After inducing a fly out to begin the inning, Montas yielded a single to Logan Moon and walked Ramon Torres before being pulled from the game.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE The Nashville Sounds offense was unable to find a groove Saturday night as they were defeated 6-2 in their series opener against the Omaha Storm Chasers.

One night after not registering a base hit until the sixth inning Friday night, the Sounds wasted no time getting into the hit column Saturday night. Jorge Mateo lined a base hit to lead off the game and came around to score on Dustin Fowler’s sacrifice fly to spot James Naile with a 1-0 lead. Naile, however was unable to maintain the advantage as he yielded a two-run double from Frank Schwindel with two outs in the first inning. The runs snapped an 18.1 scoreless innings streak to begin the season for Naile.

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – A spectacular outing from Iowa’s Adbert Alzolay and costly errors doomed the Nashville Sounds Friday night as they dropped their series finale against the Iowa Cubs 7-1. The loss halted Nashville’s five-game winning streak, its longest streak since 2016.

Alzolay cruised through the first four innings as he mowed down the first 12 Sounds hitters he faced. He walked a pair in the fifth inning but left both runners stranded. Nashville finally got to the highly touted prospect in the sixth inning as BJ Boyd belted his first home run of the season for Nashville’s first hit of the game.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – With a series victory in sight, the Nashville Sounds faltered against the Omaha Storm Chasers, dropping the series finale 15-1. The Sounds were seeking their first series victory since the beginning of June, a string of ten series.

Two explosive innings highlighted the day for the Storm Chasers. Omaha sent eight batters to the plate in the third inning against Chris Jensen and four of them came around to score. The Storm Chasers tallied a single run in both the fifth and seventh innings before pouring it on in the eighth. Omaha plated nine runs on eight hits in the eighth inning against three different Sounds pitchers.

Nashville SoundsPapillion NE – A career night from Yairo Muñoz carried the Nashville Sounds past the Omaha Storm Chasers 11-5 Saturday night. Muñoz drove in a career-high five runs as he went 3-for-5 with a home run and a pair of doubles.

The Sounds offense spotted starting pitcher, Frankie Montas, a four-run cushion before he took the mound. Renato Nuñez lifted a sacrifice fly to right to score Franklin Barreto from third base for the first run of the game. Matt Olson doubled and came around to score on a single from Mark Canha and an error by Omaha first baseman, Ryan O’Hearn. Muñoz then destroyed a 1-0 pitch for his second home run of the season.

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Sounds were clinging to a 3-2 lead entering the ninth inning but a pair of singles and a costly error lifted the Omaha Storm Chasers to the 4-3 victory.

Logan Moon legged out an infield single to start the ninth inning rally for Omaha. Billy Burns followed that up with a base hit through the left side of the infield to bring Dean Anna to the plate. Anna laid down a bunt back to Sounds closer, Simon Castro who airmailed the throw into foul territory allowing the tying and winning runs to score.

Nashville Sounds blow past Omaha Storm Chasers, 10-1

Nashville SoundsPapillion NE – Joey Wendle became the Nashville Sounds franchise leaders in doubles in a 10-1 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Thursday night at Werner Park.

Wendle’s record-breaking 95th double in a Sounds uniform came in the sixth inning. In typical Wendle fashion, he turned a line-drive to right-center into a two-bagger when he hustled into second ahead of the throw.

Wendle broke the record held by Skeeter Barners who notched 94 doubles in 514 games with Nashville. Wendle, who has played parts of three seasons with the Sounds, broke the record in game number 335.
