Tennessee makes changes to Child Support Guidelines

 

Tennessee Department of Human ServicesNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is implementing revised child support guidelines this week that will help align all child support orders with changing family economics, improve the system for both custodial and noncustodial parents, and meet new federal requirements.

These are the first major changes to Tennessee’s child support guidelines since 2005.

Revised rules recognize the needs of low-income mothers and fathers and provide better support for incarcerated parents to fulfill their child support obligations.

Financial Aid Available for Certain Families That Lost Employment Due to Coronavirus

 

Tennessee Department of Human ServicesNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is making essential financial resources available to families that have been significantly impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency.

Beginning today, Thursday, March 26th, 2020 at 10:00am CT, families can begin applying, online, for up to two months of emergency cash assistance if they were employed as of March 11th, 2020 and they’ve lost employment or at least 50% of their earned income as a result of the pandemic.

Emergency cash assistance applications are being accepted online for qualifying families that lost a job as a result of the pandemic state of emergency.
