APSU FootballBrentwood, TNJaison Williams of the Austin Peay State University football team was tabbed as the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Williams was a monster in the trenches for the Govs recording a career-high 2.5 sacks in Austin Peay’s 7-0 shutout victory over No. 18 UT Martin on Saturday night.

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football’s first two victories of the 2017 season featured high-octane offenses obliterating everything in its path. Saturday’s win against 18th-ranked UT Martin was a little different.

A stifling Governor defense swarmed the Skyhawks, pressuring preseason All-OVC quarterback Troy Cook and shutting out one of the league’s most potent offenses in a 7-0 win at Fortera Stadium.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football team sophomore quarterback JaVaughn Craig has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Chattanooga native led Austin Peay to its first win of the Will Healy era with four rushing scores in a 69-13 drubbing of Morehead State, Saturday.

In addition to an efficient 8-for-12 passing night for 118 yards, Craig rushed nine times for 37 yards and four touchdowns, the most by a Governor since Chris Fletcher in 2006.

Second Half Surge not enough as APSU Football falls at UT Martin

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityMartin, TN – The Austin Peay State University football team outscored UT Martin 24-14 in the second half of Saturday’s Ohio Valley Conference contest, but the Govs fell 45-31 to the Skyhawks in Graham Stadium.

The Governors scored 21 of its 31 points in the fourth quarter, and racked up 414 total yards as a unit, the most since 2012 against Tennessee Tech in the furious comeback attempt.
