APSU students in eArmyU can enroll through GoArmyEd

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University students who receive tuition assistance from eArmyU, which will phase out in 2012, can still pursue their educational goals through the GoArmyEd service.

Soldiers currently enrolled in the program may continue to register for eArmyU courses until March 31st, 2012, even if a course runs past the shutdown date.

It was announced last week that eArmyU would dissolve in 2012 after having provided tuition assistance for online courses for 10 years.

Traditional tuition assistance is available within the GoArmyEd portal (www.goarmyed.com) and provides financial assistance up to 100 percent, not to exceed $4,500 per year and $250.00 per semester hour.

“Students can enroll in the same programs through GoArmyEd that they were enrolling in through eArmyU. It really will have no impact on their educational goals,” APSU Registrar Telaina Wrigley said.

When established in 2001 as a recruiting and retention incentive, eArmyU served to introduce thousands of young soldiers to computers and online learning. Today, online courses leading to degrees account for nearly 78 percent of tuition assistance enrollments, which is a major reason why the eArmyU option is being discontinued, according to news reports.
