Cunningham, TN – AT&T* today announced the availability of its mobile Internet network in Cunningham in Montgomery County, TN, extending access for advanced mobile services, devices and applications to customers in the area.
AT&T is an industry leader in delivering the benefits of the mobile Internet, offering powerful and flexible connectivity, a wide range of smartphone and other device options, and simultaneous voice and data capabilities for an amazing wireless voice and Internet experience.
“As more and more residents of Cunningham rely on their mobile devices for information and connectivity, they must have faster connections,” said Speaker Pro Tempore Curtis Johnson. “Investments in mobile Internet will have an immediate impact for our Cunningham consumers and businesses.”“This is an investment in our future,” said State Senator Mark Green. “In an information-driven economy, the ability for our Cunningham residents to have access to the latest communications technology is critical.”
AT&T invested nearly $1.4 billion in its Tennessee wireless and wireline networks from 2010 through 2012, with a focus on expanding 4G LTE mobile Internet coverage and enhancing the overall performance of its networks.
AT&T’s mobile Internet network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most widely used wireless network platforms in the world.
“This mobile Internet announcement is great news and will help keep our Cunningham residents safe,” said Cunningham Fire Chief Butch McCurdy. “Speaker Pro Tempore Curtis Johnson and State Senator Mark Green work every day supporting public policy that encourages investment and innovation in Cunningham.”
AT&T operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network** including more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers across the country. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans.
“For many consumers, especially rural residents with access to only satellite and dial-up broadband service, mobile Internet provides high speed internet access that fits their needs and provides broadband service like that available in larger cities,” said Kathy Sager, AT&T regional director. “For consumers living in suburban and urban areas with more high speed broadband service options, mobile Internet affords new competitive high speed broadband choices.”
