Nashville Sounds fall to Memphis Redbirds 5-2, Lose Fifth Straight

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Sounds fell victim to an early deficit and dropped the series opener against the Memphis Redbirds at First Tennessee Park on Monday night, 5-2.

The loss was the team’s fifth straight defeat and put Nashville’s home record to 15-14. The Sounds had their chances, going 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position, but saw the Redbirds take the first game in the I-40 Cup Series.

Memphis stormed out to a 4-0 lead off Sounds’ starter Chris Bassitt. Tommy Pham got the ‘Birds on the board when he blooped a two-run single in the first. Rafael Ortega hit a double and scored in the second and then produced a run-scoring triple in the third.

AAA reports Gas Prices Forecast to Average $2.47 through the end of 2015

 

AAATampa, FL – Motorists across the country saw increases at the pump last week, but that trend is not likely to continue. The EIA updated its forecast, expecting monthly average gas prices to decline through the end of the year, reaching as low as $2.27 in December.

According to the report, the average price of gasoline from June 1st – August 31st would be $2.60 – the lowest since 2009. The average price through the end of 2015 is forecast to be $2.47. If that forecast holds true, the average price for this year ($2.43) would also be the lowest since 2009.

Clarksville's Frolic on FranklinClarksville, TN – Applications are now being accepted for booth space at the 10th annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts.” The event will be held on Saturday, September 19th, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, in the 100-block of historic Franklin Street in downtown Clarksville.

Coordinated by the Roxy Regional Theatre, the street event offers 30 vendor spaces where artists can showcase and sell fine arts and hand-crafted items, such as photography, paintings and drawings, pottery, jewelry, glass items, and more.

Clarksville Police report Phyllis Taylor sentenced to Five Years for Vehicular Homicide

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On September 22nd, 2014, Clarksville Police Officer Melissa Spielhagen responded to a crash on Tiny Town Road. A bicyclist, Vince A. Freeman was struck by an unknown vehicle and died from his injuries. The unknown vehicle left the scene of the collision.

Phyllis L. Taylor, 53 from Clarksville, was charged and arrested on September 24th, 2014 with killing bicyclist Vince A. Freeman, 22-year-old from Clarksville.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Churchill Court Water Outage

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on Churchill Court in the Windwood subdivision to repair a water pressure relief valve. Area residents may also experience low water pressure during the work.

The repair is anticipated to be finished and water restored by approximately 1:00pm.

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department began searching for a runaway juvenile early this morning. The runaway juvenile was 12-year-old Joseph William Huffman from the 700 block of Cloud Drive in Clarksville, TN.

Joseph Huffman has been located. There is no further information at this time.
