Nashville SoundsPapillion, NB – A 95-minute rain delay could not cool off the Nashville Sounds red-hot bats as they cruised to a 8-3 victory over Omaha at Werner Park on Sunday night.

The top of the Sounds order carried the load in this one as Craig Gentry, Joey Wendle and Brent Morel went a combined 6-for-12 on the night with five RBIs and five runs. Gentry began the game with a single to extend his road on-base streak to 31 games and then scored on a triple by Wendle.

APSU Governors Golf began season with strong start at Golfweek Program Challenge

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUPawleys Island, SC – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team got off to a strong start during the first round of the Golfweek Program Challenge, Sunday, at the True Blue Golf Club.

With sophomore newcomer Alex Rios leading the way with a 4-under 68, the Govs shot a 5-under 283 to sit in a fourth-place tie with Radford.

APSU Lady Govs Soccer loses to South Alabama Jaguars, 2-1

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUMobile, AL – Junior Gina Fabbro helped Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team break its two-game scoreless streak, but a late goal by South Alabama put the Lady Govs on the wrong end of a 2-1 result at The Cage.

Austin Peay falls to 1-4-0 after a third consecutive defeat, while the Jaguars improve to 5-1-0.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men and women’s cross country teams came blazing out of the gate to begin the 2015 season at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic, late Saturday evening at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

The men’s team had an extraordinary evening as Martin Rejman broke the school record for the men’s four mile run (20:44.42). Rejman placed 21st out of 258 total runners, many of whom ran for high-level, competitive SEC teams such as Alabama, Mississippi State and Arkansas State.

TWRA announces WWA Waterfowl Hunts Application Period begins September 9th

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The application period for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s 2015 Wildlife Management Area waterfowl hunts will be held from September 9th-30th. Applications will be accepted until midnight (CDT) September 30th.

Clarksville Weekly Market Snapshot from Frazier Allen for the week of September 6th, 2015

 

F&M Investment Services - Raymond James - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The economic data were mixed, but generally consistent with moderately strong growth. Unit auto sales improved in August. The ISM Manufacturing Index slowed. The Non-Manufacturing Index pulled back a bit after surging in July (still strong). The Fed’s Beige Book described growth as evenly split between “modest” and “moderate” across the 12 Fed districts.

The August employment report was mixed, but generally strong. Nonfarm payrolls rose by 173,000 (median forecast: +220,000), but with a net revision of +44,000 to June and July.

Austin Peay State University, Woodward Library host exhibition on Lincoln and American Civil War
