Clarksville, TN – The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) gun safety program has taken flight in Clarksville-Montgomery County elementary schools.
Eddie Eagle, NRA’s gun safety mascot, made an appearance at Carmel Elementary School.
School Resource Officer Jim Knoll assisted Eddie in teaching a class on gun safety.
With the help of an animated educational video, Eddie Eagle and SRO Knoll reminded students what to do if they see a gun. They are to Stop! Don’t touch! Run away! Tell a grown-up!The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program is a gun accident prevention program developed by a task force of educators, psychologists, law enforcement officials and firearm safety experts. It has one mission: teach children four simple, easy to remember steps so they know what to do if they ever come across a gun.
Eddie Eagle was a hit among the students. Despite a busy touring schedule, he was available for high fives and autographs after class.
