Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education was selected to receive $50,000 in grant funding from First Book’s OMG Books Awards to purchase 13,000 books for Tennessee students.
These books are intended to help develop a love of learning among students in Tennessee’s rural and distressed communities, in alignment with the department’s Best for All strategic plan and early literacy strategic priority, as well as Governor Bill Lee’s initiative to support rural counties across the state.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators saw their winning streak come to an end tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2, on a controversial call late in the game that would have tied the score, 2-2.
Nashville’s Colin Blackwell was called for goaltender interference with about three minutes remaining, after the Predators scored the game tying goal, and the goal was waved off by officials.
The replay showed that Blackwell was pushed into the goalie after the puck was in the back of the net, but the referees chose to wave off the goal and call the penalty on Blackwell.

TWRA announces 2020-21 Fishing Regulations take Effect March 1st, New Tennessee Fishing Guide Available
Nashville, TN – Tennessee Wildlife and Resources Agency (TWRA) announces that Tennessee’s 2020-21 fishing regulations are in effect beginning March 1st and anglers are encouraged to obtain the new Tennessee Fishing Guide now available at locations throughout the state, on the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency website (www.tnwildlife.org) and on the TWRA “On the Go App.”
Hard copies of the guide are available wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold and at the TWRA’s four regional offices located in Jackson (Region I), Nashville (Region II), Crossville (Region III), and Morristown (Region IV).
Knoxville, TN – A game-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting from John Fulkerson led the way as Tennessee defeated Florida for the fourth consecutive time. The win also marks the Vols’ 50th regular-season SEC victory under fifth-year head coach Rick Barnes.
Vols freshman Josiah-Jordan James stuffed the stat sheet, recording 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Clarksville Film Festival kicked off Friday, February 21st, 2020 when 11 teams of filmmakers gathered at Liberty Park’s Freedom Point to hear the competition rules and select movie genres.
What happened next was 52 hours of scripting, filming, editing — and very little sleep — as teams raced to submit their films by the deadline.
