Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation receives Grant from Google Data Center

Clarksville-Montgomery County Education FoundationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation was recently awarded a one-time $20,000 grant from the Google Data Center Grant Fund to help offset Clarksville-Montgomery County School System needs due to COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Google - CMCSS Partnership

“We are grateful to our partners at Google for their willingness to support the Foundation as we navigate the in-classroom impact our students and teachers will feel as it relates to COVID-19,” said Robin Burton, Executive Director of the CMC Education Foundation.

“Our local business community continues to be fiscally supportive of our mission during this unprecedented time, and we anticipate there to be a greater need for support as the next school year moves forward. Our goal is to be ready and able to meet those needs as they arise,” Burton stated.

The recently awarded grant will fund classroom-level equipment and supplies to aid in easing the financial burden on teachers and families. As can be seen in many other communities, COVID-19 Coronavirus has affected local operating budgets and has required reductions from various initiatives.

Since 2015, Google has made a substantial impact on the CMCSS community through their support of STEM and equitable learning. The corporation funded several STEM initiatives and equipment as well as offered in-person workshops to CMCSS students. Google also launched the Rolling Study Hall program in Montgomery County, which equipped several buses with Wi-Fi and Chrome Books for students who have longer bus rides and limited access to reliable internet.
