West Creek Elementary School Students visit Fort Campbell’s 4th Brigade Combat Team

Fort Campbell, KY – Soldiers with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), in conjunction with educators with West Creek Elementary School of Clarksville, Tennessee, facilitated a field trip for the school’s 5th graders, to Fort Campbell on December 10th, 2013.

“We were approached by our partners in education, they arranged this field trip for us,” said Sherri Hamby, the 5th grade lead teacher at West Creek Elementary School in Clarksville, Tennessee. “There is a lot of math and science involved in shooting guns and in flying helicopters,”

Fort Campbell Currahees receive Sergeant Audie Murphy Club induction

Paktya Province, Afghanistan – Originating in 1986 at Fort Hood, Texas, the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club is an exclusive U.S. Army organization for non-commissioned officers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and performance.

In order to be inducted, the NCOs must be recommended, pass a physical training test as well as several rigorous board appearances.

Fort Campbell Currahee Chaplain Assistants provide Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Khowst Province, Afghanistan – Soldiers with the 4th Brigade Combat Team “Currahee,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), were provided with the opportunity to attend Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training on Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan, July 28th and 29th.

“This training is to enhance our leader’s capabilities, early on, in identifying the signs and symptoms of someone presenting suicidal or homicidal ideation,” said Staff Sgt. Shane Birdsong, chaplain assistant for the brigade chaplain, 4th BCT, 101st Airborne Division.

Fort Campbell Currahee Soldiers receive Combat Patch on D-Day Anniversary

Paktya Province, Afghanistan – The 101st Airborne Division combat patch was presented to Currahee Soldiers at Forward Operating Base Lightning, during a patching ceremony, June 6th.

On this day, 69 years ago, Currahee Soldiers participated in Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy, France.
