Clarksville Fire Rescue holds 9-11 Ceremony

 

Clarksville Fire RescueClarksville, TN – This morning, Friday, September 11th, 2020, Clarksville Fire Chief Freddie Montgomery and Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts led a ceremony to honor fallen firefighters and police officers and the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.

The ceremony also served as an annual opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of three Clarksville firefighters who have died in the line of duty: Firefighter Claude B. Walker, who died in 1960; Captain George “Pen” Wilson, in 1967; and Eng. Ray Harrison, in 1981.

“I’m pleased to see so many people here,” Chief Montgomery told the crowd during his welcoming remarks.

Clarksville Fire Rescue to hold annual 9-11 Ceremony

 

Clarksville Fire RescueClarksville, TN – Clarksville Fire Rescue Fire Chief Freddie Montgomery and Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts will host Clarksville’s annual ceremony honoring fallen firefighters and the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.

The remembrance will be at 8:46am Friday, September 11th, 2020 at Clarksville’s Fire Station No. 1, 802 Main Street. Face masks, social distancing and pre-event temperature checks will be required. The event will include placement of a memorial wreath, guest speakers and presentation of flowers to families of fallen firefighters.

The ceremony honors the commitment and ultimate sacrifice of hundreds of New York City Firefighters who selflessly responded after the World Trade Center’s twin towers were attacked by terrorists on September 11th, 2001.

101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) remembers 9/11 at Fort Campbell

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Soldiers, family members and friends of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) gathered in front of the division headquarters September 11th, for a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of those who lost their lives in the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The ceremony was also held to pay tribute to those 101st Soldiers who lost their lives overseas in missions dedicated to hunting those responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

Brigadier General Mark R. Stammer, the division’s deputy commanding general for operations, spoke about the horrific events of that day.
