Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds doubled up the Oklahoma City RedHawks, 6-3, on Monday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in the opener of a four-game series.

With the win, the Sounds (53-84) snapped Oklahoma City’s 17-game home winning streak and posted back-to-back road victories for just the fifth time all season. Nashville rapped out 15 hits but also left a season-high 16 runners on base on the night.

Nashville’s Johnny Hellweg Nabs Ninth Win In 3-2 Victory

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds held on to defeat the visiting Albuquerque Isotopes by a margin of 3-2 Thursday night at Greer Stadium to give Nashville the 2-2 series split.

Tied 1-1 in the fourth inning, Cole Garner helped the Sounds pull ahead with a double to the gap in right-center field, plating Kentrail Davis, who reached base on balls. Starting pitcher Johnny Hellweg (9-4) pushed a sacrifice bunt, his second of the night, to advance Garner to third. Josh Prince hit a sac-fly to drive in Garner and give the Sounds a 3-1 lead.

Nashville Starter Johnny Hellweg Logs Six Shutout Innings For Eighth Victory

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds topped the New Orleans Zephyrs Saturday night at Zephyr Field by a 8-5 margin, guided by Johnny Hellweg’s impressive return start and offensive fireworks from Robinzon Diaz.

Hellweg (8-4) made his first start for Nashville since June 22 a good one, logging six innings of shutout baseball for his eighth quality start of the season. The 6-foot-9 hurler limited the Z’s to two hits on a team season-high 108 pitches, walking four and striking out six.

Nashville Sounds win series finale over New Orleans Zephyrs 7-5

 

Nashville SoundsMetairie, LA – The Nashville Sounds rallied to overcome five home runs delivered by the New Orleans Zephyrs Tuesday afternoon at Zephyr Field to win the series finale 7-5.

Down 4-2 in the eighth, the Sounds worked the bases loaded with no outs to spark the beginning of their late-game rally. Catcher Anderson De La Rosa cut the Z’s lead to one by nubbing an RBI ground out to first base, scoring Hainley Statia, who singled to lead off the frame.

Nashville Sounds lose 2-1 to New Orleans Zephyrs

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds suffered their league-leading 17th one-run defeat on Sunday afternoon at Zephyr Field, falling 2-1 to New Orleans.

Nashville managed only three hits on the afternoon and New Orleans hurlers combined to retire the final 15 Sounds batters in order to close out the contest.

Right-hander Hiram Burgos made a rehab start for the Sounds but it was an abbreviated one-inning outing due the onset of a lengthy rain delay. He allowed one hit and walked a batter during a scoreless 22-pitch frame.

Nashville Sounds lose Double Header to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – After rallying to tie both contests of Friday’s doubleheader at Principal Park, the Nashville Sounds could not keep pace with the Iowa Cubs, who delivered seven home runs on the night to defeat Nashville 5-4 and 8-6.

In game one, the Sounds cracked two home runs, but lost the seven-inning affair, 5-4.

After Sounds outfielder Khris Davis knotted the game in the fifth with his seventh home run of the year, the Cubs pulled back out to a one-run lead with their third homer of the game. Infielder Brad Nelson knocked a deep shot to right field off of reliever Jesus Sanchez (3-1).

Nashville Sounds split double-header with Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Nashville Sounds split a doubleheader with the division-rival Iowa Cubs on Wednesday evening at Principal Park. Each team recorded a one-run victory in the twinbill as Nashville captured the opener, 5-4, before dropping the nightcap, 1-0.

In the opener, Chris Narveson (1-2) made his fifth rehab start for the Sounds and held the I-Cubs to two runs on four hits over five-plus innings of work, tossing 80 pitches to earn the victory. He walked one batters and struck out two.

Nashville Sounds get 5-3 win over New Orleans Zephyrs

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds rode the arm of starting pitcher Zach Kroenke (4-8) Monday night at Greer Stadium to hold off the New Orleans Zephyrs in the series finale, avoiding the four-game series sweep with the 5-3 victory.

Kroenke, in his first start since June 2nd, held the Zephyrs scoreless through six innings of work to pick up his fourth win and fourth quality start in his last five starts for Nashville. The lefty fired six strikeouts to New Orleans, allowing only three hits and one walk. He tossed 69 pitches, 47 for strikes.

Nashville out-hit New Orleans, 13-5, in the contest, getting knocks from every starter except Stephen Parker (0-for-3).

Outfielder Sean Halton went 3-for-4 to extend his longest hitting streak of the year to 10 games for Nashville. He is batting .500 (16-for-32) over the 10-game stretch, the Sounds’ fourth double-digit streak of the season.
