Instant Peay Play: APSU Baseball, Men’s Golf Teams open seasons with a flourish

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball and men’s golf teams opened their respective spring schedules this past weekend with impressive starts, as Governors athletics continue to shine during the 2017-18 school year.

Both teams couldn’t have asked for much more to kick-off their seasons, with baseball going 3-0, with two wins versus South Dakota State and a victory versus Big-10 Conference member Illinois, while men’s golf went right down to the wire in finishing second out of 16 teams at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor – won and hosted by William & Mary.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUChampaign, IL – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team will have little time to heal the wounds from a heartbreaking loss to Samford.

After two long bus rides, the Governors, who lost to Samford, 68-67, Wednesday night on a last-second shot, find themselves ready to face Illinois. The Illini, a perennial Big 10 power, are off to a 2-0 start after posting a 20-15 2013-14 record and advancing to the second round of the NIT.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl Finalizes SEC Agreement for 2014-2019

 

Nashville Music City BowlNashville, TN — Representatives of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl are pleased to announce an extension with the Southeastern Conference (SEC) through the 2019 college football season.

Following the College Football Playoff and Capital One Bowl selections, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, in a pool with the Outback, TaxSlayer.com Gator, Belk, Texas and AutoZone Liberty bowls, will work in conjunction with the SEC office to create the matchups each year. Geography, opponent and repeat scenarios will be key components in the final matchup decision.

APSU former Women’s Basketball Head Coach Lin Dunn elected to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, Saturday

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsUncasville, CT – Former Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Lin Dunn was one of six members elected to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, which was announced during the WNBA All-Star Game, Saturday, July 27th.

The six members of the Class of 2014 are: Lin Dunn (coach), Michelle Edwards (player), Mimi Griffin (contributor), Yolanda Griffith (player), Jasmina Perazic (player), and Charlotte West (contributor). The Class of 2014 will be formally inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on June 14th, 2014 in Knoxville, TN.

Austin Peay State University draws University of Florida in NCAA Baseball Tournament opening round

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – In a year of record-setting achievements, Austin Peay State University’s baseball team achieved another first on May 27th, as it earned an Ohio Valley Conference all-time best No. 2-seed in the Bloomington, IN Regional Tournament and will face Southeastern Conference member University of Florida on May 31st, 1:00pm, at Bart Kaufman Field on the campus of the Indiana University.
