Her books have analyzed issues such as the Affordable Care Act and TennCare, and when the global COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic struck earlier this spring, she decided to change the honors public policy class she planned to teach this summer.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this month, Dr. Chinyere Ogbonna-McGruder, Austin Peay State University professor of public management and criminal justice, accepted an invitation to North Charleston, South Carolina, to discuss her 2009 book, “Voices from the Inside: Case Studies from a Tennessee Women’s Prison,” at the Mid-South Sociological Association’s 42nd Annual Conference.

Austin Peay State University Professor’s new book examines new Health Care Law

 

Clarksville, TN  A few years ago, students in Dr. Chinyere Ogbonna-McGruder’s administrative law class kept asking her questions about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare.” The Austin Peay State University associate professor of public management and criminal justice saw the situation as an ideal teaching opportunity.

“That’s all they wanted to talk about. What is it? Is it socialized medicine?” Ogbonna-McGruder said. “So I told them to go research it themselves.”
