Clarksville’s Frank and Connie Fisher win 22nd Annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament

 

APSU Governors Bass TournamentBuchanan, TN – On Saturday, May 14th, the 22nd annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament was held on Kentucky Lake. Boats launched from Paris Landing State Park at 6:00am. There were 187 boats competing for $12,000 in prize money.

Although the forecast was for a clear, sunny day, the start of the tournament was anything but. Clouds rolled in, the wind kicked up making for a cold morning with a lot of chop on the water. As the day went on, the clouds departed and the sunny weather promised presented itself.

Rain doesn’t dampen spirits at 21st Annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament

APSU Governors Bass TournamentBuchanan, TN – The 21st annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament was held in the rain Saturday, May 16th on Kentucky Lake. Boats launched from Paris Landing State Park at 6:00am. There were 212 boats registered for the event and 200 competed for the $12,000 in prize money.

The weather was clear some but mainly held to a steady rain for most of the day with periods of light drizzle. Despite the conditions, the fishermen were in high spirits at the start of the event.

Storms can’t drown out the 2014 Austin Peay State University Governor’s Bass Tournament

 

Austin Peay State University Sports Information - , APSU, Governors, Govs, Lady GovsParis Landing, TN – On Saturday, in spite of storming weather, several hundred fishermen in 227 boats gathered at the Paris Landing State Park Marina for the 20th Annual Austin Peay State University Governor’s Bass Tournament.

Last season’s tourney drew 282 boats—14 more than in 2012, despite entrants being forced to utilize the back entrance because of flooding. This year’s turnout was likely suppressed by the weather which resulted in a slightly lower turnout.

Brian Cook and Calvin Cothron, of Springfield, Tennessee were declared the winners of the 20th Annual Governors Bass Tournament with a 24.71 pound stringer of bass.

Clarksville Youth Fishing Rodeo a big hit with the Kids

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) in partnership with the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, Grandpa’s, Walmart, Boyles Bait, First Baptist Church, and Yellow Creek Baptist Church worked together to give the youth of Clarksville an opportunity to enjoy a day of free fishing in Liberty Park on Saturday.

The annual Youth Fishing Rodeo is held on the second Saturday in June to coincides with Tennessee’s Free Fishing Day and 16 and under Free Fishing Week. “This is the 12th year that we’ve joined together with the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation, and all of our sponsors to bring the outdoors to young kids who may be fishing for the very first time,” said Montgomery County Wildlife Officer Dale Grandstaff. This year, there were 380 kids gathered around the fishing pond at Liberty Park to have a great time in the great outdoors!

Clarksville to host Southern Division Bass Tournament

 

Clarksville Montgomery County Convention and visitors BureauClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Bass Federation, Inc., part of the largest Grass Roots Bass Fishing organization in the country, will be hosting the 2013 Southern Divisional Tournament at the Clarksville Marina at Liberty Park June 5th-7th.

This year’s tournament will see participants from all over the South, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and North and South Carolina. There are 175 boaters scheduled to compete in the tournament. 18th Annual APSU Governors Bass Tournment title captured by Kevin Tidwell and Eric Shelton

APSU Governors Bass TournamentParis Landing, TN – The first time was the charm for Kevin Tidwell and Eric Shelton.

Fishing together as a team for the first time in the 18th Annual Governors Bass tournament, the duo walked away with the $5,000 first prize in the annual event, held Saturday, May 12th at Kentucky Lake, with launching occurring from Paris Landing State Park.

A total 264 boats competed Saturday for $13,000 in prize money.

The team of Kevin Tidwell and Eric Shelton won the $5,000 first prize.
