Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN Grant Williams scored 21 points and James Daniel III dished out 10 assists to lead Tennessee to an 84-60 victory over Mercer on Wednesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
In their first game since returning from the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, the Vols (5-1) used a strong defensive effort to force 20 turnovers and hold the Bears (5-3) to a season-low in points.
 
The first half was highlighted by a balanced attack for Tennessee, as seven players recorded at least a point.

Tennessee Lady Vols pull away from Missouri Tigers late for 77-66 win

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN Diamond DeShields fired in 22 points, as the Lady Vols pulled away from the Tigers in the fourth quarter to win, 77-66, in Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night.

Although the teams fought neck and neck through the first three periods of play, #24/25 Tennessee (16-8, 7-4 SEC) exploded in the fourth to put a gritty Missouri team (16-9, 6-5 SEC) away behind 75 percent shooting from the field during the period.

UT had four players in double digits for the night. DeShields’ 22 points marked the ninth time this season she cracked the 20-plus plateau. She also added six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in the contest.

Tennessee Vols roll past Ole Miss Rebels, 75-66

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – After going into the second half down by four and struggling to contain the Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee turned around a close game to win, 75-66, Wednesday night in Thompson-Boling Arena.

Tennessee (14-10, 6-5 SEC) took control of the game with 3:49 left, finishing on a 17-2 scoring run. Robert Hubbs III was the hero the Volunteers were looking for, as he ignited two major back-to-back plays under the basket, one of those being a layup that would give the Vols a 66-64 lead with 1:52 left, their first lead since the 5:54 mark of the first half.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee begins the back half of SEC play on Saturday when it travels to Starkville for a rematch with Mississippi State. Tipoff is set for 2:30pm CT on SEC Network.

The Vols (13-9, 5-4 SEC), winners of four straight games, are playing their second straight road contest after picking up an 87-77 win at Auburn on Tuesday night. It was UT’s fourth true road win of the season after having just achieved one such victory during the entire 2015-16 season.

That lone triumph away from home a year ago came at Humphrey Coliseum when Tennessee earned an 80-75 win over Mississippi State (13-8, 4-5 SEC).
