Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – The Mark Hudspeth era opens this week for the Austin Peay State University (APSU) football program, 7:00pm Thursday, August 29th at Fortera Stadium as the Governors play host to North Carolina Central, in what will be the first of six home games for APSU this season.

It will be the first year the Govs will have six homes games in a season since 2003.

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – One of the biggest events of the fall happens this week for Austin Peay State University, as the Governors celebrate homecoming over the next six days, culminating with their 4:00pm Saturday football game versus Mercer.

And while the football game is the cornerstone of the week’s activities, there will be many events for Governors students, fans and alumni to see and participate in as the university welcome back former players and students to “Home is where the Govs are”.

Clarksville Chamber of Commerce Home and Garden ShowClarksville, TN – On February 23rd and 24th, the Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce held their fourth annual Home and Garden show at the Foy Fitness Center on Austin Peay State University.

The show was sponsored by the Clarksville-Area Chamber of Commerce, the Leaf Chronicle, and Furniture Connection. 57 Vendors were on hand to offer Clarksvillians tips on getting ready for the rapidly approaching spring.

Austin Peay State University to host Spring AP Day in February

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville TN –Area high school students hoping to enter college will have an opportunity to win a $3,000 scholarship to APSU, when the university hosts it’s Spring 2013 AP Day, February 16.

Clarksville Hosts Second Annual Sports Festival

 

Clarksville Sports FestivalClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation held its second-annual Clarksville Sports Festival on Saturday, March 17th, at the Foy Fitness Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University.  The day-long festival was a celebration of sports and athletics in Clarksville and Montgomery County and featured not only clinics, sports demonstrations and interactive areas, but also seminars and even an exposition area where over 20 of Clarksville and Montgomery County’s athletic and outdoor clubs, businesses and organizations provided information to the community.

You gotta be careful where you invest

It’s just a question of where you want to put your money. Clarksville City Council members last week balked at a $2.3 million Edith Pettus Park renovation plan.

It’s a good idea, but an expensive idea, one council member observed before retreating to his upper-class neighborhood not far from both private and city-operated golf courses.

Isn’t Pettus Park within sight of the new multi-million dollar Foy Fitness Center? How about the Governor’s Stadium complete with running track? Isn’t there a swimming pool and tennis courts adjacent to the Foy Center? What about the baseball fields, soccer fields, intramural fields, and just plain open fields, all within sight of Pettus Park?
