Clarksville leaders react to the threat of Hazardous Weather

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville Government offices will remain closed Thursday, February 11th, 2021.

Earlier, officials had announced Clarksville City offices would open at 10:00am Thursday, but a decision was made about 9:15am to stay closed because of threats that a continuing winter storm could bring ice and hazardous travel conditions to the area.

Clarksville leaders continue to monitor weather, roads

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville City Government offices will open at 10:00am on Thursday, February 11th, 2021, and City officials will continue to monitor winter weather conditions.

City Public Safety and Utility departments will be on duty as usual and all essential City services will continue.

Trucks ready to spread salt as needed

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – With Clarksville under an Ice Storm Warning from 6:00pm today, Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 until 6:00pm Thursday, the Clarksville Street Department has prepared equipment and personnel to battle the wintry mix if and when it arrives.

A Clarksville Street Department truck, fitted with a salt box, is ready to roll if ice begins to hit area roads. A salt box ready to be placed on another truck hangs in the next bay at the Street Department equipment garage.

Clarksville-Montgomery County under Ice Storm Warning for late this afternoon

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The Nashville Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Clarksville-Montgomery County beginning late this afternoon.

An Ice Storm Warning is in effect from 6:00pm tonight through 6:00pm Thursday for far northwest Middle Tennessee for ice accumulations of a quarter-inch up to a half-inch possible. Hazardous travel, power outages, and tree damage will be possible.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6:00pm tonight through 6:00pm Thursday for portions of Middle Tennessee for ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch up to a quarter inch. Bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads may become slick, and isolated power outages and tree damage will be possible.
