Four APSU Govs picked in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player draft, Saturday

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityNew York, NY  – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team saw a quartet of student-athletes drafted in the third day of Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft, Saturday.

Junior catcher Ridge Smith was the first Governors player to be drafted, hearing his named called in the 12th round (372nd pick) by the Toronto Blue Jays. Junior third baseman/outfielder Logan Gray went next with his hometown Kansas City Royals nabbing him in the 13th round (403rd pick).

Alex Robles solid start leads APSU Baseball Govs to 6-1 win over Southeast Missouri

APSU Baseaball - Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Behind eight solid innings from starting pitcher Alex Robles, APSU’s baseball team handed Southeast Missouri its first Ohio Valley Conference loss, 6-1, Friday night at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay State University (17-11, 9-4 OVC) broke up a 1-1 pitcher’s duel in the sixth inning, aided by a dose of Southeast Missouri defensive miscues.

APSU Governors Baseball takes on Southeast Missouri at Raymond C. Hand Park this weekend

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – One of the nation’s best offenses will square off against one the nation’s best pitching staffs when Austin Peay State University’s baseball team hosts Ohio Valley Conference leader Southeast Missouri in a three-game series, Friday-Sunday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The three-game set begins with a 6:00pm, Friday contest. The series continues with 1:00pm match ups both Saturday and Sunday.

APSU Baseball picked third in OVC Preseason Poll; Logan Gray named Preseason Co-Player of the Year

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBrentwood, TN – One week before opening day of the 2016 season, Austin Peay State University’s baseball team was picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason poll of league coaches and sports information directors.

In addition, junior infielder Logan Gray was one of two players selected as the league’s Preseason Co-Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Eastern Kentucky outfielder Kyle Nowlin.

APSU’s Alex Robles gets double 1st-team All-OVC pick, Garrett Copeland and Logan Gray earn 2nd-team honors

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUJackson, TN – Sophomore Alex Robles, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, was twice named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference in a vote of the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The honors were presented at the annual OVC baseball awards banquet, Tuesday night, before the start of the 2015 OVC Baseball Championship at The Ball Park at Jackson.
