UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 22/22 Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team (16-4, 6-1 SEC) hits the road for the first of three away games in its next four outings, playing Vanderbilt (12-8, 2-5 SEC) at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville on Thursday at 8:05pm CT (9:05pm ET).

This will mark the 83rd contest in a rivalry that began in 1976. UT leads the series, 72-10, and has won 10 of the past 11, with Vandy picking up its first-ever victory in Knoxville last season. The UT women are 247-61-1 all-time vs. four-year college teams from the Volunteer State, defeating East Tennessee State (72-68) and Tennessee State (73-43) earlier this season.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team (3-0), who are receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls, welcome in-state foe Tennessee State (1-0) to Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night, November for a 6:00pm CT match-up.

After opening with two of its first three games on the road, Tennessee takes up residence on Rocky Top for a six-game home stand. After facing TSU, the Lady Vols welcome Stetson (November 19th), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (November 26th), Air Force (December 1st), No. 22/15 Texas (December 8th) and Colorado State (December 11th) to The Summitt. The Air Force game is UT’s Salute to Service game, while the Texas match-up is part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Tennessee (17-9, 6-7 SEC) returns home to host No. 13/13 South Carolina (19-7, 11-2 SEC) Sunday at Thompson-Boling Arena. Tip-off is slated for 3:02pm CT on The Summitt in a contest that is being televised by ESPN2.

Including this match-up, the Lady Vols have three contests remaining during the regular season. The next two are at home (No. 13/13 South Carolina, Vanderbilt) and the last one is away (Ole Miss).

The Lady Vols enter this contest having won two of their past three games and five of their last seven, including victories over LSU, Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn and RV/RV Missouri.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – After playing four in a row at home, the Tennessee Lady Vols (14-7, 3-5 SEC) hits the road for two straight games, starting with a 2:00pm CT (3:00pm ET) matinee vs. Vanderbilt (6-15, 1-7 SEC) in Nashville on Sunday. ESPN2 will carry the 81st meeting between the Lady Vols and Commodores, as they face off on Super Bowl Sunday at historic Memorial Gymnasium.

UT enters the in-state rivalry game on much better footing, having won back-to-back games after a much-publicized six-game losing streak. The Lady Vols took care of LSU last Sunday, 74-65, and handled Florida on Thursday night, 67-50, with both games taking place in Knoxville.

Tennessee Lady Vols fall to Oregon State 66-59 in NCAA Tournament second round

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Senior center Mercedes Russell logged her 46th career double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead Tennessee, but it wasn’t enough as the No. 12/13 Lady Vols (25-8) fell to No. 13/12 Oregon State (25-7) in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. 

Freshman Anastasia Hayes also had a double-digit outing for the No. 3 seed Lady Vols, posting 10 points and four assists, while classmate Rennia Davis pulled down 11 rebounds.

Oregon State, the No. 6 seed, was led in scoring by Mikayla Pivec with 18 points.  Marie Gulich, Katie McWilliams and Kat Tudor also reached double figures for the Beavers with 14, 13 and 12, respectively, as OSU picked up its first win over UT in five tries.

#3 Tennessee Lady Vols host #14 Liberty in first round of NCAA Tournament

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – As one of the top 16 overall seeds in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship field, the University of Tennessee Lady Vols earned the right to host first and second round games. This marks UT’s initial time hosting women’s tourney games since 2015.

No. 12/13 Tennessee (24-7), which earned the No. 3 seed in the Lexington Regional, will play host to No. 14 seed Liberty (24-9) on Friday, March 16th, at 1:30pm CT in Thompson-Boling Arena.

In Friday’s opening game in Knoxville, No. 13/12 Oregon State (23-7), seeded sixth, will meet No. 11 seed Western Kentucky (24-8) in the other first round contest at noon.

UT Lady VolsNashville, TN – No. 12/12-ranked Tennessee (24-6, 11-5 SEC) faces No. 8/8 South Carolina (23-6, 12-4 SEC) in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament at 6:00pm CT (7:00pm ET) Friday at Bridgestone Arena.

This will mark UT’s 100th SEC Tournament game, standing at 78-21 entering the contest. Tennessee also will be seeking its 25th win of the campaign, which would mark the 35th such season victory total all-time and the fourth occasion under Holly Warlick.

The Lady Vols, who tied for fourth in the SEC regular-season standings (one game out of second place), slid to a No. 7 seed by virtue of a tiebreaker with No. 4 LSU, No. 5 A&M and No. 6 Missouri. South Carolina tied for second in the standings and earned the No. 2 seed by tiebreaker over UGA.

The Lady Vols, who tied for fourth in the SEC regular-season standings, fell to a No. 7 seed by virtue of a tiebreaker with No. 4 LSU, No. 5 A&M and No. 6 Missouri. Auburn finished 10th in the standings and earned the No. 10 seed.
 
UT and AU are meeting for the second time this season. Tennessee defeated the Tigers, 70-59, in Knoxville on January 4th in the teams’ second league contest.

Tennessee Lady Vols celebrate Seniors Day with 65-48 win over South Carolina

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 15/14 Tennessee closed out the regular season Sunday with a 65-48 victory over No. 7/6 South Carolina in front of a crowd of 13,058 on senior day at Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
After a pregame ceremony that celebrated their tremendous careers in the orange and white, Mercedes RussellJaime Nared and Kortney Dunbar helped lead the Lady Vols (23-6, 11-5 SEC) to their third consecutive win against the Gamecocks (23-6, 12-4 SEC).
 
Russell recorded a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Rennia Davis added 18 points and 10 boards for UT. Mikiah Herbert Harrigan led South Carolina with 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 15/14 Tennessee (22-6, 10-5 SEC) and #7/6 South Carolina (23-5, 12-3 SEC) close out the regular season with a 3:02pm CT match-up on Sunday, February 25th at Thompson-Boling Arena.  UT is expecting a crowd approaching 12,000, but good seats are still available.

South Carolina sits in second place in the SEC standings, while the Lady Vols are tied for fifth with Texas A&M and LSU.

This marks the 56th all-time meeting in the series, with Tennessee leading, 49-6. The Lady Vols are seeking a season sweep of the Gamecocks and will try to extend their win streak vs. South Carolina to three games.
