Pillars of Hope 9/11 commemorative art exhibit to be held at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, September 4th-23rd

 

Arts for Hearts ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County has a personal and profound connection to September 11th with many military heroes and families calling Clarksville their home.

So it is no surprise that almost 2000 tiles have been hand painted by Clarksville-Montgomery County residents as part of the Pillars of Hope: Remembering our Heroes through Art and Reflection since late 2012. A project dedicated to the memory of the September 11th attacks on our nation that honors and remembers those who serve our country.

Pillars of Hope Public Art display to be at Downtown Commons, September 6th

 

Arts for Hearts Clarksville

Arts for Hearts ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – On Thursday, September 6th, 2018, Arts for Hearts Clarksville, Montgomery County Parks and Recreation staff, and volunteers will setup the “Pillars of Hope” Honoring our Heroes through Art at the Downtown Commons, 215 Legion Street. The Pillars of Hope will be on display from 11:00am-7:00pm.

The Pillars of Hope is a commemorative piece of public art created by our community to honor and remember those who serve. The project began in 2012, a collaborative project organized by Rita Arancibia, Volunteer Clarksville, Hands on Nashville , APSU Ceramics Department, with support from the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Clarksville Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council.

Pillar of Hope Exhibit

 

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government will once again display the Pillars of Hope exhibit at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 events.

This collection of hand painted ceramic tiles was designed to be mini-memorials honoring the heroes of 9/11.

Pillars of Hope exhibit now on Display at Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library

 

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government has recently accepted the Pillars of Hope exhibit from the Volunteer Clarksville organization.

As many may remember, the Pillars of Hope were created during the 9/11 Serve to Remember Days of Service in 2012, in partnership with the Austin Peay State University Department of Art Professors Ken Shipley and Cynthia Marsh.

Pillars of Hope Project celebrates the spirit of service and unity through Community Art

 

Clarksville, TN – The first exhibit of “Celebrating the Spirit of Service and Unity: Pillars of Hope“, a public art project that celebrates the spirit of service and unity following September 11th will be held at various  locations through June 10th.

“The Pillars of Hope” began in 2012 as a creative effort to inspire the tradition of charitable service on 9/11— It is a positive way for community members to connect and pay tribute to the 9/11 victims- honor those who rose in service in response to the attacks and remind all of us of the importance of working more closely together in peace to improve our community and the world.
