The Clarksville Kiwanis Club’s third annual Kansas City Barbecue Society’s Porkin in the Park State Championship Contest continues Today. Teams from all over the eastern United States are competing for $6,500 in prize money in five categories, chicken, pulled pork bbq, brisket, ribs, and dessert. The Judging begins at Noon with Chicken, followed by PORK RIBS at 12:30pm, PORK at 1:00pm, and BEEF BRISKET at 1:30pm.
The event is free and open to the public. Don’t worry about eating before you come down as the Smokin’ Rednecks will have plenty of championship barbecue for sale. So come hungry! Beer from Budweiser will be on tap. Live music starts at 6:00pm with Southern Comfort followed by Clarksville favorites the Beagles at 8:00pm.

The City of Clarksville will be hosting its widely popular Downtown Market in conjunction with the BBQ contest. The downtown market will be relocated for the day to the Franklin Street side of City Hall. The market will be open for extended hours on Saturday running from 8:00am to 4:00pm. There will be over 40 vendors selling homegrown produce and homemade goods.
There is also a kid’s zone for the little ones with inflatables which will be open all day on the F&M Bank’s Parking deck.

Things get on their way at 8:00am and continue into the night until 11:00pm.
So grab the family, call your buddies, invite all of your Facebook friends, and plan on being in downtown Clarksville all day Saturday for the 3rd annual Porkin’ in the Park.
