Austin Peay State University and Hopkinsville (Ky.) Community College were awarded a $1.2 million State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) grant to establish training for emerging green occupations throughout the region.
APSU and HCC along with the West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board submitted a proposal to develop and collaborate on an associate degree program in chemical engineering technology (CET). The degree pathway will be a 1+1 articulation program, in which students will complete 33 credit-hours at HCC and then transfer to APSU to complete the remaining 30 credit-hours.

HCC will hold informative meetings for prospective students about the new 1+1 chemical engineering technology degree program in the near future.
The check presentation was made during a press conference Wednesday at HCC, after leaders from both postsecondary institutions signed a dual admissions agreement, known as the Austin Peay Guarantee. This allows HCC students who wish to enroll at APSU after earning their associate degree to transfer with ease.
The dual admissions agreement offers HCC students the advantage of a structured approach for completion of the associate degree followed by enrollment to pursue the baccalaureate degree.
A dually admitted student first enrolls at HCC. Upon completion of the two-year degree, the student then will enroll at APSU to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Each student under this agreement is advised by both HCC and APSU, assuring a seamless transition from HCC to APSU.
An HCC student can begin the process to enter into a dual admissions agreement at any time while enrolled at HCC.
The dual admissions agreement is applicable for HCC students wanting to pursue any academic discipline at APSU.
