Fort Campbell, KY – It was the first of three flight due in today at Campbell Army Airfield. Once family and friends spotted the plane in the sky just before 2:30am, you could hear the cheers of excitement as 131 soldier were home again. One lady actually started to cry as her husband was finally home.
Soldiers dropped their gear just outside the hanger doors and pick up a yellow rose for ther loved ones inside.
Once inside the hanger Col. Pete Bosse welcomed everyone home in a very brief speech to the soldiers before everyone was allowed 15 minutes of family time before heading back to their unit to turn in their gear. As soldiers were released, Katherine Kelley ran to greet her fiancee on the hanger floor. She had gotten to Fort Campbell about 3 hours prior to the arrival. Katherine along with her Uncle Robert Benson, her Grandmother Johnestte Clark were very excited to to greet SPC Taylor Farrister home.
Katherine is so excited to have Tyler home so they can continue to make the final arrangements for the July wedding.
There are 2 more flights scheduled to arrive today. If you wish to attend a Welcome Home Ceremony, check the flight schedules online, as times are subject to change at any time. When arriving to Fort Campbell, enter via Gate 7; if you don’t have installation stickers on your vehicle, you will be required to get a visitor pass. From there just follow the signs to the ceremony parking. Waiting buses transport the Family members safely to the hanger.
