Clarksville Police need assistance finding a man that assaulted and robbed an 84 year old Woman in her Home

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – An 84 year old woman received an unexpected and terrifying surprise when she returned to her Greenwood Avenue home from grocery shopping. On January 24th, 2012, around 4:30pm, an 84 year old woman walked into her house, set her groceries down, was approached by a man from the rear, and thrown to the floor.

She was told by the man to lay on her stomach and told repeatedly not to look at him or she would be killed. At some point, as the woman was forced to the ground her glasses were broken. The man said something to the woman about drugs and told her he wanted cash.

He had the woman get up off the floor and dump out her purse, took her money holder with cash inside and check book. The man then told her to get into the bathroom. The woman asked the man to get her cane since she had difficulty walking; he got her a cane.

Once she got in the bathroom, he made her lay down, closed the door, and pushed a couch in front of the door. The man then fled from the house. The 84 year old woman was able to get out of the bathroom and called Police.

When officers arrived, they found possible points of forced entry into the house. Officers flooded the area and a witness said they saw a man running from the residence toward Tyler Street. He was described as a stocky white male, approximately 5’8”, blue jeans, tan Carhart style jacket, black head covering, and some sort of covering over his face.

Police were not able to locate the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPSLINE, 931.645.8477.

The lead investigator is Detective Vince Duke.
