Clarksville, TN – The weekend was a buzz about College Basketball’s March Madness, but the Nation Football League had it’s own “Madness” surrounding Peyton Manning. The future Hall of Fame quarterback is in search for a new home, and Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams says, “spare no expense.”
What would it mean to have one of Tennessee’s favorite sons, quarterbacking the NFL franchise that’s made Tennessee famous?
A lot.
Specifically, ticket sales. Ticket sales have slowed over the last couple of years after the Vince Young, Jeff Fisher circus, so Titan’s management wants more “butts” in the seats. Who better to bring them in, but Peyton Manning. The Titans never had an opportunity to have a quarterback like Manning, because it appeared he would end his career just where he started, and that was Indianapolis.
But opportunity has presented itself, with a questionable neck injury, that caused the Indianapolis Colts to say, “so long Peyton.”
We still don’t know if Peyton can play. We still don’t know if he can throw a football like he used to. We still don’t know how long he can play, but what we do know is that Peyton Manning could find a home in “Titan Town.”
The next couple of days could be key. The coaches and “suits” have to figure out which players will need to be shipped off, to make room for Peyton’s salary, plus which players they want to surround him with. Could get “dicey.”
One thing’s for sure. If Peyton Manning becomes a Tennessee Titan, LP Field will become a planet all to itself. It will be THAT crazy.
Now, if only Peyton wants us.
