Clarksville Police Officer working a DUI Special Patrol Car is Rear Ended at a Red Light by a Drunk Driver

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On April 22nd, 2012, around 3:00am, Officer Tom Johnson, 56 was working as part of a DUI saturation patrol when his patrol car was rear-ended by a drunk driver.

Officer Tom Johnson was in his 2009 Chevrolet Impala stopped for a red light in the left southbound lane of Fort Campbell Boulevard at Ringgold Road.

A Ford Explorer, driven by Stanley Mickens, 47, of Clarksville was traveling southbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard, attempted to make a left turn onto Ringgold Road, and crashed into the rear-end of the stationary patrol car.

Officer Johnson was taken by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center for treatment with non-life threatening injuries. Mickens was uninjured and taken by patrol car to Gateway for medical clearance and then to the Montgomery County Jail.

Mickens breath test results registered almost three times the legal limit of .08.

The lead investigator is Sgt Mike Caver.
