APSU Governors Tennis downs SIU Edwardsville for nineth win in a row

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Tennis

Edwardsville, IL – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team made it nine straight wins with a 7-0 win at SIU Edwardsville, Friday.

The Govs (9-2, 3-0 OVC) went unchallenged against the Cougars, with only one singles match being pushed to a third set.

Senior Sean Bailey continued to dominate all comers, defeating  Marten Jonnson, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and teaming with junior Jasmin Ademovic for an 8-6 doubles triumph. Ademovic won his No. 2 singles match, a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Nicholas Vincent.

Sophomores Dimitar Ristovski and Aleksas Tverijonas continued their winning ways, earning their ninth and 11th straight wins, respectively. Ristovski knocked off Jacob Perkins at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-0, while Tverijonas continued unblemished singles season with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Jacob Tanulanond.

The Govs play the middle of a three-match road set at Eastern Illinois, 1:00pm, Sunday, in Terre Haute, IN.
