Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Soccer drops exhibition game to Indiana State 1-0

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUTerre Haute, IN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team stood tough in the face of an offensive barrage against Indiana State but dropped the exhibition opener, 1-0, Monday at Memorial Stadium.

The Sycamores attempted 25 shots, putting eight on net. Conversely, Austin Peay could muster only three shots total, and did not force a save from Indiana State during the entire match.

Clarksville Police Department recognized for Outstanding Work throughout the Clarksville Community by Citizens Police Academy Alumni

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Today, August 11th, 2014, at the Clarksville Police Department’s Training Facility, the Citizens Police Academy Alumni dedicated a Flag Pole with a plaque, installed by John Stanley, to the CPD.

The Citizens Police Academy Alumni wanted to recognize the CPD for its outstanding work throughout the Clarksville Community. In quotations the plaque states, “A better understanding between citizens and police through education.”

Nashville Sounds rained out for Monday

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN  – Monday night’s game at Greer Stadium, which was scheduled to be the final game of a five-game series between the first-place Nashville Sounds (66-56) and the Round Rock Express (61-61) has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions.

The outing has been postponed and will be rescheduled as a part of a doubleheader at The Dell Diamond during the Sounds’ final series against the Express at Round Rock. The date of the game has yet to be determined, though the series will run from Thursday, August 28th to Monday, September 1st.

APSU ROTC students named top cadets at summer training program

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Three Austin Peay State University students were recognized as outstanding ROTC cadets during last month’s Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) training at Fort Knox, KY.

Ryan Krause and Sean Frazzini were both named the top cadets in their separate regiments during the five-week summer training course.

Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation Hosts 4th Annual Dog People Party

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with Alicia’s Complete Holistic Petcare, and Gateway Realty/A+ Property Management hosted the 4th annual Doggie Pool Party at the Swan Lake Pool on Saturday.

The event part of the Fun with Fido program which seeks to give pet owners fun activities they can take part in with their pets.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department reports Brentwood Circle Water Outage

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on Brentwood Circle to repair a six-inch water main leak. Area residents may experience low water pressure during the work. The repair is anticipated to be finished by approximately 6:00pm.

The road is open to traffic.

Clarksville’s Riverfest brings back Recycled Fashion Show

 

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Riverfest, the two-day music and arts festival scheduled for September 5th and 6th, 2014 at McGregor Park, is excited to announce the return of the popular Recycled Fashion Show, sponsored by Bi-County Waste Management.

The show is scheduled to take place Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 4:00pm in the Adventure Zone, and is intended to educate the general public about recycling in a fun and exciting way.

Salon 615: Nothing Common, Workin’ for a Livin’

 

Sandee Gertz - Author/WriterNashville, TN – I walked down to the river the other night and saw the iconic folksinger-songwriter, Todd Snider, playing a show with his new “super-group,” the Hard Working Americans, as the finale to the popular “Nashville Dancin’” concert series on the Cumberland Riverfront.

I love Snider, turned on to him just this past year by a friend who knew him and his family back in their native Portland, Oregon.

This is the second time I’ve seen him in this new project, and while most fans were salivating over the guitar work of Neal Casal’s, or drooling over Elizabeth Cook’s backing vocals and tambourines, I was wondering if the name of the group had any relation to the canon of working class music and narratives that are out there in the public domain. «Read the rest of this article»
