South Bend, IN – A pair of Austin Peay State University women’s track and field athletes earned spots in the prestigious Alex Wilson Invitational, Saturday, hosted by Notre Dame at Loftus Sports Center, and came away with a school-record and a personal-best for their efforts.

She maintains her stranglehold on the top spot in the Ohio Valley Conference and that mark moves her into the national top-40.
“Breigh ran against some of the best in the country,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “She’s so much further ahead of where she was this time last season, which bodes well for her as the year goes on.”
Senior Jessica Gray got her elusive personal-best in the 800m event, finishing 12th with a 2:12.73 mark. That would leave her third in the conference in the event entering next weekend if results hold for the rest of the weekend.
“Jessica was talking after the race about how this time last year she hadn’t broken 2:20 and didn’t get in the 2:18 range until conference,” Molnar said. “She’s way ahead of schedule, very pleased with her time and effort. This was a good stepping stone for both of them to prepare for conference.”
Next weekend Jones, Gray and the rest of the Lady Govs head to Charleston, IL, for the OVC Indoor Championships, hosted by Eastern Illinois.
