Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Consumer Affairs releases Top 10 Consumer Complaints

 

Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance - TDCINashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) today announces the annual “Top Ten” categories of consumer complaints. The utilities category ranked as the No. 1 complaint category with more than 480 consumer complaints.

TDCI’s Top Ten complaint categories were compiled from 5,099 total complaints fielded by the Consumer Affairs Division during calendar year 2014.

Former APSU Governor Greg Franklin earns women’s NJCAA Division I Coach of the Year

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsColorado, Springs, CO – Former Austin Peay State University basketball standout Greg Franklin, who led Chipola College to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I women’s title this spring, has been named NJCAA Division I Coach of the Year.

Franklin guided Chipola to a 34-1 record in 2014-15, leading the program to its first national championship. He coached two-time All-America forward Evelyn Akhator, who also was the Spalding® NJCAA DI Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, along with second-team All-America guard sophomore guard Sueterrica Key.

101st Airborne Division Soldier killed in Jalalabad, Afghanistan

Spc. John M. Dawson, 22, of Whitinsville, Massachusetts, died April 8th in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he was attacked by small arms fire while he was on an escort mission.

Disabled Veterans and Elderly Property Tax Relief bill

Tennessee State Representative - District 67Nashville, TN – A bill designed to help veterans and other persons who lack health insurance at a free clinic operated on the site of an armory, is to be heard on the House Floor Monday, April 13th.

Sponsored by Rep. Brian Terry (R-Murfreesboro), this bill allows a licensed healthcare provider who is a member of the National Guard in this state to provide healthcare services to veterans and uninsured people.  It also allows the military department to permit the use of an armory as a site of a free clinic on a temporary basis.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore infielder Logan Gray, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Gray homered four times last week, including three in back-to-back-to-back innings during Sunday’s Ohio Valley Conference series finale at Southeast Missouri, leading the Govs to a 2-2 record on the week. Overall, he hit .316 (6-for-19) with five runs scored and 11 RBI.
