Clarksville, TN – First-year head football coach Will Healy led his Austin Peay State University football players onto the turf at Governors Stadium for the first official spring practice, Monday afternoon, as the new headman observed each position group.

While Joshua Eargle drilled his offensive linemen in one endzone, the defensive linemen under the tutelage of Marcus West hit the sleds. In the middle was the featured group – the quarterbacks. As offensive coordinator, Wesley Satterfield drew up short and intermediate passing reps, with returners Mickey Macius, Timarious Mitchell and Darrien Boone each getting a heavy dose of reps.
Healy himself spent a great deal of time with the tight ends on pass routes and was a man possessed all across the field, racing from station to station to encourage and critique.
A word Healy has used often since being hired is ‘tempo’. That tempo was on display later in practice is everyone hustled the ball around the field during Healy’s ‘spot the ball’ drills.
The Governors will take part in 14 additional practices in this timeframe leading into the 2016 Red-and-White Spring Game, which is scheduled to be held April 23rd at Governors Stadium.
