Tennessee Department of Health reminds everyone that Raw Milk can be Hazardous to Your Health

 

Tennessee Department of HealthNashville, TN – Milk, whether it comes from seemingly healthy cows, goats or any other animal, can cause serious health problems, including death, if it has not been pasteurized to kill harmful bacteria.

This reminder from the Tennessee Department of Health comes following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s announcement regarding hospitalizations and a death from Listeria infections linked to people drinking raw milk from a Pennsylvania dairy.

APSU Baseball Govs faces Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky this week

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – APSU’s baseball team continues a busy stretch of eight games in 10 days with a pair of midweek contests.

First, the Govs conclude a five-game road trip with a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest at Middle Tennessee. Austin Peay State University then begins a homestand with a 6:00pm, Wednesday matchup with Western Kentucky.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – APSU men’s tennis team begins a three-match Ohio Valley Conference homestand 2:00pm, Tuesday against Murray State at the Foy Fitness Center outdoor courts.

The Governors (3-8, 2-2 OVC) have won three of their last four matches, two coming against OVC foes SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois.

AAA says drivers paid Cheapest Gas Prices in 12 Years

 

Fuel Savings Approach $10 Billion in the First Quarter of 2016 Compared to the Same Period Last Year

AAATampa, FL Americans paid the cheapest quarterly gas prices in twelve years during the first three months of 2016. Motorists have saved nearly $10 billion on gas so far this year compared to the same period in 2015.

The national average price of gas during the first quarter was $1.86 per gallon, making it the cheapest quarter for gasoline since January-March 2004. Gas prices are expected to remain relatively low compared to recent years, though average prices could rise another 25 cents per gallon by Memorial Day.

APSU to hold “Send Silence Packing” suicide prevention event this Friday, April 8th

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – On Friday, April 8th, APSU will display “Send Silence Packing,” a nationally recognized public exhibition of 1,100 backpacks representing the number of students who die by suicide every year.

The event is organized by the APSU chapter of Active Minds, the nation’s leading non-profit organization working to engage students in changing the conversation about mental health. Austin Peay State University is one of 11 college campuses in eight states hosting an event during the group’s Spring 2016 tour.
