When asked about Quilting in Clarksville and their Quilts of Valor, Joe Pitts stated “This just shows were their interests are and where their hearts are. They haven’t forgotten their veterans. I know Jerry and others. Why they do it? They don’t do it for recognition. They do it because they want to give and that’s what were doing here today.”

“Quilting in Clarksville is our local chapter of the Quilts of Valor. We have awarded 146 quilts in 2016 in the Clarksville, Tennessee area,” said Dawn M. Wilcox, Quilting in Clarksville, Quilts of Valor Foundation.

“Veterans Day is a time to honor our Veterans. For the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home to allow Quilting in Clarksville to come in and award 15 Quilts of Valor to our Veterans was an amazing and very humbling experience,” said Wilcox.

The Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Clarksville is a really nice facility. It does not have the feel or the smell of a nursing home. It is really a high quality home for our veterans.

“What a fabulous facility. I wish it were twice this size. I am just so thankful that we have it and that we have it in our community. Because Clarksville knows the importance of service, serving and veterans, stated Representative Joe Pitts. “It’s just beautiful.”

“I would like to thank Mrs. Lisa Hunt for her cooperation and dedication to ensure this Awards Ceremony took place and we honored our Veterans on THEIR Day,” said Wilcox.
