Roxy Regional Theatre finishes Season 36 with “Damn Yankees”, August 2nd-24th

Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville’s oldest professional theatre, is hitting it out of the park to close Season 36 of live entertainment on the corner of Franklin Street and First Street with the home-run hit musical “Damn Yankees”.

“Damn Yankees” opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, August 2nd, at 8:00pm.  In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.

America’s favorite pastime takes centerstage in this Tony Award-winning musical based on the novel The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant by Douglass Wallop.

Featuring local attorney Stacy Turner reprising her role of Lola from the Roxy’s original production, “Damn Yankees” stars Donald Groves as middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd, who trades his soul to the Devil (played by Ryan Bowie) for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees.

As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy (Quinten Patrick Busey), he transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team — only to realize the true worth of the life that he’s left behind.

Directed and choreographed by Ryan Bowie, the cast also features Beth Kirby as Meg Boyd, Brian Best as Van Buren, Emily Rourke as Gloria Thorpe, Caitie L. Moss as Doris, Jackie Ostick as Sister, Preston Grover as Sohovik, Ian Alexander Erbe as Smokey and Riley McManus as Rocky, along with Sebastian Fenton, David Graham, Garrett Holt, Melody Lieberman, Emma Petrie, Mimi Sears and Race Smith.

Saturday, August 10, is the theatre’s 8th Annual Summer Cookout, featuring hamburgers and hot dogs (courtesy of Edward’s Steakhouse), accompanied by sides and all the fixin’s, under the marquee at 6:30pm.  Tickets for the package, which includes the 8:00pm performance of “Damn Yankees”, are $40.00 (adults) and $25.00 (ages 13 and under).  The reservation deadline for the cookout is Friday, August 2nd.

“Damn Yankees” was composed by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, with book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, and is presented through special arrangement with and recorded music has been provided by Music Theatre International (MTI).  

This production is made possible in part by Jerry & Brenda Bowie and Nancy & Garnett Ladd.  Additional funding support has been provided by James G. Holleman.

Performances run August 2nd through August 24th on Thursdays at 7:00pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, with 2:00pm matinees on Saturday, August 10th and August 24th.  There is no 8:00pm performance on Saturday, August 24th.

Tickets are $25.00 (adults) and $15.00 (13 and under) and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at 931.645.7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).  Military, APSU students and CitySaver coupon holders can receive two tickets for the price of one to Thursday performances during the run.
