Nashville, TN — Right now, as Donald Trump delivers his remarks in Clarksville, Tennessee, in a last-ditch attempt to boost vulnerable Tennessee Republicans ahead of the November 3rd midterm election.
His visit comes as Tennessee families continue to feel the impact of Trump and Republicans’ policies, with rising costs and growing uncertainty making it harder for working families to get ahead.
Rachel Campbell, Chairwoman of the Tennessee Democratic Party, issued the following statement:
Tennesseans are fed up with the bullshit. Tennesseans don’t need another speech pretending everything is fine when their bills are too high, their paychecks aren’t stretching far enough, and their rights are under attack. We already know what he’s going to say: more lies, more hate, and more excuses.
What about the families struggling to afford groceries, the veterans who depend on healthcare benefits being cut, and the military families around Fort Campbell who deserve more than political stunts? From the White House to our Statehouse, it’s the same playbook: giveaways for billionaires and corporations while working families pay the price.
While Trump and Tennessee Republicans spend their time begging for another chance to save their own jobs, Democrats are talking to voters in the rain today, fighting to lower costs, protect healthcare, and put working people first. On November 3rd, Tennesseans will deliver a resounding rejection and elect Democratic candidates who will fight to make life more affordable for working families.
The Cost of Trump and Republicans’ Agenda in Tennessee

Household Costs
- $3,900+ in additional costs: The average Tennessee household has paid $3,900 more for essential goods and services under Trump’s cost-hiking agenda.
- $719 more for housing: Tennessee families have paid $719 in additional rent and mortgage costs since Trump took office.
- $809 more for gas: Tennessee families have paid $809 in additional gas costs since the beginning of the war with Iran.
- $3.95 per gallon for gas: Tennessee’s average gas price is currently $3.95 and rising, alongside an average diesel price of $6.03 per gallon.
Health Care
- 30,844 Tennesseans losing health coverage: Since Republicans passed their harmful healthcare cuts, 30,844 Tennesseans have lost critical health coverage.
- 73,557 Tennessee families losing ACA coverage: Amid Republican healthcare cuts, 73,557 Tennessee families are losing their Affordable Care Act coverage.
- 58% average premium increase: Families nationwide are facing a 58% increase in average premium costs after Republicans refused to extend ACA tax credits.
- Nine rural hospitals at risk: Nine Tennessee rural hospitals are facing potential closure because of Republicans’ healthcare law.
Food Assistance and Farms
- 94,595 lost food assistance: Republicans’ harmful reconciliation bill has stripped 94,595 Tennesseans off food assistance through SNAP.
