“I went to Panama, Ecuador, Belize, Honduras, Korea, Holland, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Japan, England, Canada…let’s just say numerous countries,” he said.

Tennessee Higher Education Commission Awards Veterans Reconnect Grant to Austin Peay State University

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this fall, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) awarded Austin Peay State University (APSU) with a Veterans Reconnect Grant to support a new Military Pathway Pilot Project designed to help military and veteran students transition quickly and easily into college or new career fields.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University (APSU) biology assistant professor Dr. Jason Malaney reflects on his undergraduate years at Eastern New Mexico University, he realizes the impact being a first-generation college student had. He didn’t see the hurdles then. He sees them now. 

“In hindsight I had no idea, no concept of what financial aid was, it wasn’t even part of my lexicon, how to get scholarships even,” the Austin Peay State University assistant biology professor, said. “How that works wasn’t even a piece of information for me. The pathway didn’t exist. I had to figure it all out.”

Austin Peay State University to unveil new Veterans Upward Bound Office during kick-off event May 15th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this year, Austin Peay State University received a five-year, $1.3 million U.S. Department of Education TRiO grant to help military veterans earn a college degree, and at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 the University will unveil the new Veterans Upward Bound Office and staff.
